Rules

Attendance

  • Attendance is the number one factor in staying in school and graduating.
  • If you are sick, you must call Mr. Branson before 7 a.m. It must be from you not from your parent or guardian. Failure to do so
  • will result in one detention. Late calls should be made to the school phone but do not ask for Mr. Branson.
  • The program does not accept notes from parents; you must talk with Mr. Branson.
  • Mr. Branson will decide if your absence is excused or unexcused. If you are sick you must stay home all day and night (we do call). We also reserve the right to ask for a doctor's note at anytime.
  • If you choose to break the rule about leaving the house, this may end up costing seven detentions.
  • If you do not call you will receive two detentions. If you are late it will be one detention.
  • Unexcused absences result in one detention for every hour you miss. Monday and Fridays result in double the detentions.
  • Students are expected to maintain a 90 percent attendance rate in order to remain in the program.
  • Maintaining a 90 percent attendance will give you one-half (1/2) credit per semester for your No Excuses grade.

Tardy Policy

  • A total of 11 tardies will be allowed without penalties per semester.
  • No more than four (4) tardies will be allowed in any one class.
  • Any violation after the above will result in detentions assigned at our discretion.

Zero Hour

  • Choosing not to complete homework or turn it in when assigned demonstrates an inability to manage your own time. Therefore, we will help manage it by placing you in Zero Hour which is from 3:25 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Mr. Branson will assign the days that you attend for each 4 1/2 weeks. When progress reports or new grades come out we will decide if you are out of Zero Hour. During Zero Hour you will be allowed to use the computers with the permission of the detention teacher and only until 4 p.m.

Dress Code

  • If we have told the student that we do not think something they are wearing is appropriate, DO NOT WEAR IT.

Smoking

  • The rules on smoking are: the first time caught equals two Saturday Schools. The second time will result in three Saturday Schools. The third time will result in four Saturday Schools.

Drugs and Alcohol

  • We can and will recommend that a random drug test be given if we observe behaviors that indicate drug or alcohol abuse. This recommendation will be made to the administration of the high school.

Probation

  • Contracts with certain students will be made under certain circumstances. If the student chooses to break the contract, the result may be immediate dismissal.
  • The contract will be written to state specifically the student's main issue of concern and what will be expected in order for the student to remain in the program.

Removal

  • We reserve the right to remove you from the program and/or school at any time subject to the approval of the high school administrator.
